WHO IS GABLE CREST GARDENS?

If you read our previous post The Story Behind Gable Crest Gardens, you hopefully learned a little more about our inspiration in creating Gable Crest Gardens, but you might have been left wondering who are we?

I’m Rachel, most likely the one that will be writing on the blog and sharing most of what’s happening in the gardens on our social media platforms. Some might say I’m a little obsessed with gardening and while I wouldn’t technically disagree, I would have to say there could be a lot worse things I could be obsessed with! When I’m not out in the gardens, you might find me chasing our toddler around the yard playing with our chickens or Great Danes in our orchard. I’m also a frequent hunter on Facebook Marketplace for the next antique to squeeze into our house! I love a good DIY to switch things up in or outside of the house, most likely with a large cup of coffee in hand trying to complete it before naptime ends! When it comes to Gable Crest Gardens, I guess you would say I’m the head gardener, the one with the next crazy idea for a new project, or the creative. You will be seeing me at our U-Pick Flower events or at local markets with handmade wreaths or bouquets. While you will most likely be seeing my face the most or hearing from me here on the blog or in our newsletters, you would be mistaken to think I’m the only person behind the gardens.

My husband, Jeff is a huge part of Gable Crest Gardens. While I’m more of the expert in flowers, he is the one you will find in the orchard, boiling maple syrup in the spring or tending the honeybees. He loves filling our orchard with not only our classics staples for fruit, but he’s usually tracking down a new or unusual variety to add.  While we both are usually dreaming up some new idea, he is always my supporter in helping me find a way to make our new ideas a reality.

Our wild and carefree toddler is our most important member of the Gable Crest Gardens team. He is our biggest inspiration in creating our home and reminding us of what is truly important in life.  He is always up for finding a new adventure, especially outdoors. He is the best at picking weeds… and the occasional flower! He loves his chickens, visiting the cows down the road and nothing is better than a tractor ride. I’m sure he will also be the first to welcome you at our U-Pick Cut Flower events in the next few weeks!

We each have our own passions when it comes to the gardens, but if it involves the outdoors, you can usually find each of us there. We each bring different interests and ideas to the table, and we can’t wait to see how the gardens evolve over time as we open this summer! Thanks for being here!
